You are hosting poker night and six friends show up with their favorite toros. Chaos ensues if you only have a solo dish on the table. Choosing the right gear changes everything. The debate between a single rest versus multi rest cigar ashtrays comes down to how you smoke and who you smoke with.
Solo sessions require minimal footprint. A single rest piece keeps things compact on a side table or desk. It holds your stick securely without taking up half the room. You get deep bowls and clean lines meant for quiet contemplation. S.T. Dupont and Elie Bleu make incredible porcelain pieces that turn this solitary setup into a statement piece.
Hosting changes the math entirely. Nobody wants to juggle ashes or balance a lit stick on the edge of a coffee mug. Multi-rest designs spread the love around a wider basin. They invite conversation. You pass the lighter, share stories, and keep the table spotless while multiple robustos smolder peacefully.
Think about your routine before you buy. Do you retreat to the balcony alone with a book, or do you roll out the red carpet for weekend guests? Matching your hardware to your lifestyle guarantees a better burn every single time.
