The Old School of Prophet Elias, located on Paxos, has a rich history as an educational institution. Originally built to serve the community, this building has since been repurposed and is currently functioning as a kindergarten.
When it was operational as a primary school, the building hosted grades 3 through 6. For Yiannis, this school holds particular memories, as he attended 3rd grade there for only half a year. During that time, a significant change occurred, and all students were moved to the new school facilities in Vlahopoulatika, situated next to the football pitch.
The transition marked a shift in the island’s educational infrastructure, consolidating schools into a more modern complex while preserving the historical value of buildings like the Old School of Prophet Elias.
